IYNF News

Born to be wild outcomes

BTBW
For the very first time IYNF run a long-awaited youth exchange focused on nature, outdoor experience and sustainable way of life. Born To Be Wild, was initiated by Anna Biba Foldhazi and practically supported by Marie Venclova, Duha local group Modra Strelka, IYNF Secretariat, Ala Capova and many others. 25 people from Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland and Germany spent one week on a meadow close to Nachod in Czech Republic. The workshops and discussions were focused on eco topics, sustainable lifestyle and friendly way of using what nature provides us. Besides, there was a night in the rocks filled with adventure, storm and shared experiences, like building the shelter for a night, singing by the fire and travelling together. It was a new project but thanks to the feedback of participants and energy of organizers it will hopefully happen again.

German Young Naturefriends: Campaign for Nuclear Phaseout

This autumn Germany will see strong public protests against nuclear power. German Chancellor Merkel announced that the government plans to postpone the nuclear phaseout by 10 to 15 years. According to the law for the time being all nuclear power plants must shut down until 2021. German Naturefriends together with other initiatives organize a big protest rally against the plans of the government on September 18th in Berlin. More than 30.000 protesters are expected to participate and to raise their voice to support renewable instead of nuclear energy. Participants from other European countries are invited to join and to stay for free with German Young Naturefriends in the Karl-Renner-Haus in Berlin (please contact tobias[at]naturfreundejugend.de). German Young Naturefriends organize a lot of activities in their campaign for a quick nuclear phaseout. The website, a series of flyer and an exhibition inform about dangers and problems of nuclear energy.

EVS in Moldova

Prosperous Moldova is launching and implementing the European Voluntary Service (EVS), an Action of the Youth in Action Program set up and funded by the European Commission (EC) to promote youth mobility and international voluntary service. We are Hosting/ Sending organization, working mainly with youth from disadvantaged and rural regions of Moldova Republic. EVS has opened new possibilities and increased the number of long-term volunteer placements that “Prosperous Moldova” can offer to young people. The EVS program has also enabled “Prosperous Moldova” to reach out and increase the participation of young people with fewer opportunities, who are usually not in the position to afford and/or access voluntary service exchange programs at a cost.
Prosperous Moldova offers several projects for EVS volunteers. Should you have any more questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to send us an e-mail to Coordinator of EVS projects Popescu Valentin to one of these addresses: office[at]moldova-prospera.org, volunteer[at]moldova-prospera.org.

Partner organisations needed

Moldovan organisation Miras Moldova is looking for partners from the Programme Countries wishing to send the EVS volunteers in Moldova. According to the rules, The Youth in Action Programme supports cooperation between Programme Countries and The Neighboring Partner Countries like Moldova. But the applications for projects are submitted by one of the Programme Country partner's organizations to their own National Agency. So we need your support to approve our current projects in any NationalAgency. At the moment we are glad to propose for volunteers 3 distinct projects. Detailed information about the projects is available after contacting Olga Ceaiuc – Director or Sergiu Rusu – Director's Assistant at: volunteer[at]miras.md. The volunteers would be of great help to our organization in running more efficiently our projects and generally would be very opportune to the country as a whole considering the fact that Moldova is still getting acquainted to the western style of thinking, working and dealing with the social problems.

Make yourself useful – call for participants

In autumn 2010 we are having the following youth exchange supported by Youth in Action Program, using the themes of self experience (expedition, high ropes, low ropes, rock climbing); technical knowledge; supervision; experiential education theories. It is a youth exchange, so that through getting to know each others' culture we become more open-minded, and grow towards the increase the acceptance of differences and one another and reduce exclusion. Our objective is that during the programs the participants discover their own importance and usefulness in society and their environment; they are also introduced to the joys and possibilities of volunteering and can get a feel what kind of positive experience and knowledge they could get during voluntary work. Our topic is volunteering and participation. A person responsible for providing more information is a Project Coordination Gigi: kriszta.gyongyosi[at]gmail.com
