Call for GreenGames

18 - 23/5/2010(vicinity of)Berlin, Germany
The participants for the GreenGames have been selected and everyone is informed about the outcomes.

Do you want to know more about games that can be used to work on environmental topics with young people? Or do you want to learn how to set up a cool environmental campaign? Or maybe you want to gain experience on what it is like to work on common topics in an international group in a nice surrounding and a great atmosphere? Then register for either one or both of the green workshops!

Introduction
2010 is the year of the environmental Naturefriend and you can become one by registering for the Green workshops. The Green workshops are the follow up of our activities in outdoor and experiential education and connect these with the themes of sustainable lifestyle and developing a relationship with nature. The Green workshops consist of two separate training courses; the Green Games and GetGreen campaigning training course. This is the call for the Green Games.

What are the Green games?
The Green games take place in May 2010 near Berlin in Germany. It is meant for youth leaders, youth workers and youth trainers to learn and develop non formal and experiential education methods connected with environmental themes. During this training the participants will experience an ongoing process of discussion, sharing and experiencing the potential of these methods.

Practically this means
  • a positive approach towards environmental issues
  • getting to know Naturefriends from other countries and work with them on common projects
  • learning new skills

Who can join?
Everyone that is:
  • pro active and both wants to learn and share their knowledge
  • interested in non formal and experiential education methods connected with environmental topics
  • between 18 and 30 years old, with exceptions possible on both sides
  • able to understand and speak English

The team will select the participants based on the criteria mentioned above and taking into consideration geographical, gender and experiential balance among participants. Priority will be given to participants actively involved in IYNF member and partner organisations, but there is also space for other participants from all over Europe.

Why do we organise the Green workshops?
We want to connect and inspire active volunteers in the Naturefriends network to combine experiential and non-formal education methods to develop a relationship with nature and environment in their youth work. We provide the participants with tools and methods for attractive and effective ways of training and campaigning on environmental issues. During the training courses the participants exchange develop methods for environmental education and campaigning that can be used in activities with e.g. local youth groups. The participants can bring this fresh knowledge and skills to their own organisation to motivate their local youth groups.

What you need to apply?
To register, please use our on-line registration form, which is the only way to enlist this activity. If you also attended the first part of the Green workshops, the GetGreen campaigning, you will get a 40 % discount on this second training course.
